Janine Prins studied Visual Anthropology at Leiden University, where she graduated as Drs in 1986. With additional experience from working for Dutch television companies in various capacities she got admitted at the National Film and Television School (NFTS) in the UK and became an independent documentary director and producer in 1992. Next to this she operates as self-employed education professional, with customers such as Utrecht School of the Arts, Stenden University, and the Nederlands Film Academy. In 2011 she founded Stichting DocuPrins.
In 2014 - 2015 Janine is researcher for Waag Society media lab in the ERC project RICHES, working together with the National Museum of Ethnology in a larger consortium. With cultural heritage and its social and economic role in a European migratory context at heart, the project is especially exciting for its research methods as they include creative techniques and design thinking.
