Rosalinde Spitters completed her Masters degree in Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology at Leiden University in 2012. She specialized in Global Economy and Culture. Her research was focussed on neoliberal policy aspects in the Dutch healthcare sector. She conducted three months of fieldwork within three ‘Logeerhuizen’ (Stay-over facilities) for disabled children. During the participant observations she learned about this type of care and interviewed both employees and parents about the care practice as well as the policy influence they experience.
She wrote a thesis about the interplay of (neoliberal) policy aspects and the care practice of the stay-over house for disabled children. She concluded that there are fundamental contradictions between policy aims and their effects in the stay-over houses as well as between values within policy texts and values expressed by the respondents.
