Currently, the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology (CA-DS) hosts over 30 PhD candidates working on a rich variety of topics. Find out how to become a PhD candidate at CA-DS.

The Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology does not structurally offer PhD scholarships. If you intend to pursue a doctorate at the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology, you can: 

  • Reply to a PhD vacancy that is advertised, or

  • Apply with funding from a self-obtained research grant


Application with self-obtained research grants

Under certain conditions the Institute of Cultural Anthropology and Development Sociology can support applications for self-obtained research grants, a decision that is made by the Institute’s Research Committee. This decision is among others based on the feasibility of the funding, the quality of the proposed study, qualifications of the applicant, availability of adequate supervision, and the relation of the proposed study with the Institute’s expertise.
