Lusvita finished her BA in English in Airlangga University Surabaya, Indonesia and got her Masters degree in Applied Linguistics from The University of Melbourne, Parkville, Australia. Lusvita is also a teaching staff in the English department, Faculty of Humanities, Airlangga University Surabaya.

She is currently working on her PhD project entitled 'Veiled Passion: K-pop Indonesian Muslim female fans and the negotiation of gender and religious identities' under the supervision of Professor Patricia Spyer and Dr. Bart Barendregt. The study aims to look into how Muslim fansĀ of Indonesian K-pop (Korean pop), which is prominent for its culture of idol bands and is very prominent around Asia and especially South East Asian region, negotiate and express their religious and gender identity through their involvement in the increasingly global and dynamic K-pop fandom.

Through the fans involvement, attachment and investment in the fandom of the idol band, Lusvita attempts to study the ways in which Indonesian young Muslim women in urban areas balance, contextualize and create a coherent identity amidst the pull of the often contradictory influences brought by being a fan of a non-Muslim type of pop culture.
