
Large grant for Child and Family Studies
- Norface
- The Department for Child and Family studies has received a large research grant from NORFACE (New Opportunities for Research Funding Agency Co-operation in Europe) for a research project on the social integration of Turkish children in the Netherlands, Germany, and Norway.
This is a joint project with:
- the Rurh-Universität Bochum (Germany) and
- the Norwegian Institute of Public Health in Oslo (Norway).

- Research Topic
- This project will investigate the factors contributing to a positive adjustment of Turkish children to the transition to primary school, and later from primary to secondary education. Taking into account societal factors as well as characteristics of neighbourhood, school, and family.
- Dutch project leaders
- The Dutch part of the project will be led by Dr. Judi Mesman and Prof. dr. Rien Van IJzendoorn. Norface’s financial contribution amounts to € 3.4 million for the project across the three countries, of which more than € 950,000,- for the Dutch part of the project. The duration of the project is four years.
