I have experience in managing large-scale research projects in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry and intellectual disabilities. I am now involved in a research study of adult psychological functioning of domestic adoptees and their families. My PhD project was about the essessment, prevalence and risk factors of emotional and behavioural problems in youth with intellectual dissabilities, which included writing a Dutch manual for the Developmental Behavior Checklist. I have supervised (co-promotor) 2 PhD projects. Both were part of a 4-year follow up of my PhD project. One was about psychopathology and the help seeking proces (J.C.H. Douma) and the other on the developmental course of psychopathology in youths with intellectual disabilities (K.P. de Ruiter). I have worked with different specialized mental health care settings for children with intellectual dissabilities to assess implementation of the Developmental Behavior Checklist and te collect norms for referred children. I have also been involved in initiating new research projects for future research in a PDD outpatient sample.
