On May 21, 2003, Clasien de Schipper earned her PhD-degree at Leiden University.

The title of her thesis was Children in flexible child care. Experiences of stability in center care, quality of care and the child's adjustment.

She was supervised by Prof.Dr. M.H. van IJzendoorn and Prof.Dr. L.W.C. Tavecchio.
