Developmental profiles of neurocognitive functioning
As executive functioning heavily depends on maturation of the brain, deficits in executive functioning may become more manifest with age during childhood and adolescence. This research project is focused on executive functioning in the autism spectrum using models of cognitive development.
Deficits in executive functions, such as inhibition, attention, working memory and mental flexibility, are studied in relation to social functioning. Because of a longitudinal design, the impact of early deficits in executive functioning on later development of severe psychopathology, such as psychotic features, can be assessed.
