Early development: Curious Minds

The Curious Minds programme (Dutch) aims to clarify what ‘talents’ or qualities toddlers possess and how these talents can be stimulated. In our lab, the focus is on talents within the areas of cognition, social cognition, explorative behavior, social skills and beta-learning. Our study includes approximately 450 children (4-6 years old) from First and Second Grades across the Netherlands. An extensive test battery is used to map their strengths and difficulties in the areas described above. Children will be tested three times over a three year period to monitor their development. In addition, during these three years, several interventions will take place; interventions will focus on improving social abilities in 5-6 year old children. Goal is to identify what type of interventions are most successful in improving the development of talents in the area of social skills and beta-learning in young children.
