Malou Noten studied Clinical Child and Adolescent studies and Behavioural Science at the Radboud University, Nijmegen. During her studies she did an internship at the Clinical Child Department of the Sint Maarten‘s hospital. As part of the Radboud Honours Academy, Malou did an internship at the Child and Family Department of the province of Gelderland, and she conducted research at Columbia University, New York and the Australian Catholic University, Melbourne.

Since 2011 she has been working as a nurse at the clinical child department of Kempenhaeghe, Expertise centre for Epileptology, Sleep Medicine and Neurocognition. In May 2014 she started her PhD research at the Mother Infant Neurodevelopmental Study (MINDS Leiden).

MINDS Leiden aims to gain insight into risk factors for early neurobiological, neurocognitive and social development on the one hand, and working mechanisms of the preventive intervention programme ‘MINDS Leiden’ on the other. This program is based on the US  Minding the Baby Programme.
