Jill Suurland studied Clinical Child and Adolescent Studies at Leiden University. She completed the research master’s programme in 2009 with honors. As part of her bachelor’s degree programme  she studied at the University of Sydney for six months and worked as a research  assistant on various research projects. During her master’s studies she completed a clinical internship at the Ambulatorium (Neurospreekuur).

In September 2010 Jill started as a PhD candidate on the NWO FES project ‘A good start: Early prevention of anti-social behavior’. She is involved as a teacher in various bachelor’s and master’s courses at the Department of Clinical Child and Adolescent Studies.

The aim of my research project is to gain insight into the neurobiological (autonomic nervous system and HPA axis) and neurocognitive processes that underlie the development of aggressive behavior in very young children (0-2.5 years).
