Ethnic disadvantage and adolescents’ emotional- and behavioural problems
The aim of this research is to gain insight in the development of emotional and behavioural problems and personality characteristics of adolescents as a consequence of an ethnic disadvantaged position in Dutch society. The relationship between a long-term exposure to ethnic disadvantage (i.e., low socio-economic status, less opportunity on the labour market, and perceived discrimination) and emotional- and behavioral problems is investigated. This is studied by comparing adolescents with Moroccan, Antillean and Dutch backgrounds in youth care and in the general population.
The research is funded by Leiden University.
