Polish immigrant youth in Iceland

Iceland, experienced in the second half of the last century hardly any immigration, but since it opened the borders for EU-citizens a considerable number of young polish immigrants and families decided to settle in Iceland.

This project analyzes whether or not Polish immigrant youth in Iceland acculturate and adapt to their new society in a way that is comparable to the way that other immigrant groups acculturate and adapt in countries having a longer history of immigration. In addition the project investigates whether or not immigrant youth’s friends provide support that contributes to adolescents’ adjustment and whether this support is different for intra- and intercultural friends.
