Exchange Students
The Institute of Political Science offers a limited number of students from partner universities an opportunity to study in Leiden for one semester as an exchange student. Students from partner universities pay their tuition fees at their home university while studying here. Partner universities with which the department has Socrates Exchange Agreements are: Aarhus University (Denmark), University of Bologna (Italy), University College Galway (Ireland), University of Grenoble (France), Ruprecht-Karls University Heidelberg (Germany) and Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium), in the USA: Ohio State University and Purdue University.
Students who come on a university-wide reciprocal exchange agreement and have a background in Political Science may apply for admission to courses in political science. However, the department has limited spaces.
Please note that for the academic year 2010-2011 the Institute of Political Science offers a programme for international exchange and Study Abroad (SAP) students during the first semester only. The institute cannot accept exchange or SAP students for the second semester or the whole academic year.
If you would like to study in Leiden, please contact the exchange officer at your own university. They can help you with the application forms that have to be sent to Leiden's International Office. The form will also enable you to pre-apply for courses. To register for courses officially you need to contact our exchange officer after arrival.
