Politics and international studies at Leiden University rank highly in QS
Political science and international studies at Leiden University keep getting high grades. In the 2015 QS World University Rankings by Subject, Leiden climbs to the 23rd spot worldwide. Among Europe's political science institutes, Leiden even ranks 6th. In the Netherlands, Leiden holds the top position.
The QS rankings measure academic and employer reputation, citations, and research impact. Given the standing and budgets of the instutions topping this ranking, the relatively small Institute of Political Science at Leiden University scored exceptionally well. It did even better than in 2014, when it ranked 34th overall.
The subject rankings are compiled and published annually by the British education consultancy firm Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). They are considered to be one of the most influential and widely observed university comparisons.
The QS rankings are based on research citations from Scopus data, including an analysis from 17.3 million research papers and over 100 million citations, alongside reputational surveys of over 126,000 academics and graduate employers worldwide.
