Laura van der Aar is a research and education assistant in the department Developmental and Educational Psychology of the Institute of Psychology at Leiden University.
Laura studied Developmental Psychology at Leiden University and obtained her research master’s degree in 2014. During her research master, she worked as an intern at Curium-LUMC (child and adolescent psychiatry) where she assisted in a validation study of questionnaires used in Juvenile Detention Centres. She wrote her thesis in the Brain and Development Lab of Eveline Crone, focusing on the neural correlates of creativity training in adolescents.
Laura currently works in the Brain and Development lab. She assists in different research projects in the lab, such as the Braintime project. This longitudinal study started three years ago and follows almost 300 children and adolescents in their (brain) development. Furthermore, she teaches bachelor courses in developmental psychology.
