“The development of social anxiety is not only a matter of negative cognitions, emotions, and skills of the anxious individual. Other people’s behavior towards the socially anxious person should also be taken into account.”
Anke W. Blöte is assistant professor in the unit Developmental and Educational Psychology of the Institute of Psychology at Leiden University.
She obtained her master’s degree in developmental and personality psychology at Leiden University and also got her PhD from this university. Her topic was the development of writing behavior. Anke started her research and teaching in the domains of cognitive development and learning disabilities, combining her job at the university with work as a school psychologist in a special education setting.
Her current research interest focuses on the causes and maintaining factors of social anxiety. She teaches a course in the assessment of learning disabilities.
