"The way in which environmental factors may guide the direction of innate behavior, is a most intriguing area of research."
Caroline L. Bokhorst is assistant professor in the unit Developmental and Educational Psychology of the Institute of Psychology at Leiden University.
She obtained her master’s degree in developmental psychology from Leiden University, with a specialisation in research methods and statistics. She obtained her PhD from Child and Family studies, also from Leiden University, and focused on attachment in twins, conducting a behavioral genetic study on infant-mother and infant-father attachment.
Her current research focuses on physical, psychosocial and cognitive maturation during adolescence and its relationship to social anxiety, specifically speech anxiety. In addition, she is interested in the influence of temperament and peer relations during development. She teaches courses in developmental psychology and psychodiagnostics and supervises bachelor’s and master’s theses.
For a full description of her research programme, see Temperament and social support
