"Children’s thoughts and actions can only be understood if we have a better understanding of the brain mechanisms that support this behavior."
Eveline Crone is full professor in the unit Developmental and Educational Psychology of the Institute of Psychology at Leiden University.

She obtained her master’s degree in developmental psychology from the University of Amsterdam, based on a one-year research internship at the University of Pittsburgh where she focused on reward processing in ADHD. She received her PhD from the University of Amsterdam; her dissertation is entitled: Performance monitoring and decision-making: Psychophysiological and developmental analyses. After her PhD, she spent 2 years as a post doctoral researcher at UC Davis.

In Leiden, Eveline set up the Brain and Development laboratory. Her current research centers around questions related to the development of cognitive control and decision-making in school-aged children and adolescents. The lab has a strong focus on the fundamental changes in brain function that underlie our ability to anticipate, produce and evaluate complex decisions in daily life. March 15, 2009, she was appointed full professor.

For full details on her research programme, see Brain and Development Lab.
