Stel, Mw. drs. M. (Manita) van der
- Manita van der Stel is a PhD student in the unit Developmental and Educational Psychology of the Institute of Psychology at Leiden University.
She obtained a Master of Arts degree in Spanish linguistics from Leiden University. After holding various teaching and management jobs in higher education, she obtained a master’s degree in educational psychology at Leiden University. Her thesis focused on the relation between intellectual ability and metacognitive skillfulness as predictors of learning performance.
Her current research focuses on the development of metacognitive and intellectual skills in 12 to 15 year old children. Furthermore, she is interested in the generality vs. domain-specificity of metacognitive skills. Her PhD project has a longitudinal design, where the same secondary-school students are being followed for three consecutive years.
