Health, Medical and Neuropsychology
As of January 1, 2014, the new ‘Health, Medical and Neuropsychology Unit’ has been launched. Within this unit, education is offered and research is conducted on related fields of psychology: Health, Medical, and Neuropsychology.
Health and Medical psychology focuses on the study, prevention, and influence of psychological aspects on physical health problems. Attention is paid to the relationship between biopsychosocial processes (e.g., cognitions, emotions, and behaviour; psychophysiological stress systems) and physical health. This includes both health prevention and health promotion as well as diagnostics and treatment in people with (chronic) somatic conditions.
Neuropsychology is the (clinical) science addressing the relationships between brains and behaviour, and the potential related disorders involved.
