Gert-Jan Lelieveld graduated (cum laude) as a Research Master in Social and Organizational Psychology at Leiden University in 2008. Currently he is working as a PhD Candidate at the department of Social and Organizational Psychology at Leiden University under the supervision of Eric van Dijk and Ilja van Beest. The subject of his project is the interpersonal effects of emotions.

Research

His current research focuses on the interpersonal effects of emotions. The effects of anger on other people can be advantageous, but in certain situations it backfires. Disappointment seems to be a good alternative to express in these situations, because it has the same benefits as anger, but does not have the disadvantages that anger copes with.
