Ruth Rexwinkel graduated in 2010 in Social & Organizational Psychology at Leiden University (cum laude). Currently she is working as PhD candidate at the Department of Social & Organizational Psychology at Leiden University under the supervision of Dr. Naomi Ellemers, Dr. Fieke Harinck and Dr. Daan Scheepers. Her research focuses on value conflicts and specifically on interventions that can effectively resolve them.

Research

Her current research focuses on value conflict and interventions that can resolve this type of conflict. Value conflicts are extremely hard to resolve in part because values form an important part of our identity. Value conflict poses a threat to our identity, which reduces the motivation to resolve the dispute.

In the first line of research she examines the effectiveness of interventions that change conflict perception.

In the second line of research she examines the effectiveness of interventions that reduce identity threat.

Finally, in a third research line the practical value of the interventions for professional mediators is examined.
