"The psychodiagnostic process does not end with a prescriptive diagnosis or classification; the next step is to choose the best fitting intervention to tackle problem behaviour."
Tirza Bosma is a lecturer in the unit Developmental and Educational Psychology of the Institute of Psychology at Leiden University.
Tirza obtained her PhD in 2011. She received her master’s degree in developmental psychology from Leiden University. Her thesis was on the learning potential of special needs students and low achieving students, from an ethnic minority background, in primary education. Prior to starting her PhD, Tirza worked as a school psychologist serving various primary schools, and studied special education at Syracuse University, NY.
For her PhD research, she focused on the learning potential of young children and the importance of dynamic assessment for diagnostic assessment procedures. Her specific research interest is the contribution of dynamic assessment procedures - in which children receive hints to solve cognitive tasks - to needs-based assessment. Present studies focus on the additional value of dynamic assessment results for educational settings; Do results and implications forthcoming out of dynamic assessment yield starting points for classroom instructions? Tirza teaches courses in psycho-diagnostics and dynamic assessment.
For a full description of her research programme, see: Dynamic Testing Lab.
