Emma ter Mors graduated cum laude in Social and Organizational Psychology at Leiden University (1999-2003). After graduating, Emma started as PhD Candidate at the department of Social and Organizational Psychology at this same university (September 2004-September 2008). Under the supervision of Mieneke Weenig, Naomi Ellemers, and Dancker Daamen, she carried out research on the influence of source perceptions on the selection, processing and acceptance of complex information concerning CO2 capture, transport, and storage technology (CCS).  Upon completion of her dissertation entitled “Dealing with information about complex issues: The role of source perceptions”, she became an assistant professor at this department (September 2008 - January 2009). Emma is currently employed as a senior researcher at Leiden University and is responsible for the coordination of the subprogram Public Perception of CATO2, the national research program on CCS in the Netherlands. Within the CATO2 program she performs follow-up research on (factors influencing) public perception and public acceptance of CCS technology. Her most recent work focuses on the potential of host community compensation in (CCS) facility siting.
