Charlotte van Schie is a PhD candidate researching emotion regulation and the fragile self-esteem in Borderline Personality Disorder using behavourial, physiological and neural data. The current study looks specifically into the potential socio-cognitive mechanisms and neural underpinnings associated with oversensitivity to social signals of potential rejection, fragile self-esteem, and durable preoccupations about negative self-images in Borderline Personality Disorder. It is expected that individuals with BPD are more vulnerable to social evaluation and have more difficulty regulating the consequential (negative) emotions. Furthermore, she will look into multivariate analysis of fMRI data besides the traditional voxel-wise analysis. Her PhD research is associated with two departments: Methodology & Statistics and Clinical Psychology.

Charlotte van Schie is also a teacher for the department of Methodology & Statistics. She teaches first year statistics courses and preparatory statistics to Master students coming from different universities.
