Experimenteel Psychologische Onderzoeksschool

Cognition, man or machine

The basic mission of the Experimenteel Psychologische Onderzoeksschool (EPOS) is to advance the study of cognition, man or machine. The researchers in EPOS are concerned with the question of how information is acquired and represented, how information is understood and communicated, how it is used in the control of action, and how it is stored in the brain.

Methods

EPOS research groups adopt a variety of methods in the study of cognition, ranging from cognitive-behavioral approaches to formal analysis and model simulations, behavior genetics, neuropsychological methods, and psychophysiological techniques, and brain imaging and stimulation techniques. The multi-disciplinary approach, typical for EPOS, is consistent with recent developments in the study of human cognition.
