Labyrint 65 years

Labyrint is the study association for Leiden Psychology students. Apart from organising various study-related activities, Labyrint was also created to increase social contacts between psychology students, especially for the 13th Lustrum.


New minor in Child Abuse

Starting in September 2012 Leiden bachelor's students will be able to study diverse aspects of child abuse in the new minor on this subject. They will follow subjects in Law, Medicine, Education and Child Studies, and Psychology.


Registration for examinations

Students must register for each examination. Students are not allowed to sit an examination without being registered. It is possible to register up as from 6 weeks to 10 calendar days before the examination.


Changes in consultation Student counsellors

Consultation for master students by Mirthe Haas is cancelled at 1 and 3 May; consultation at 8 May: 11.00-13.00 hrs. Walk-in consultation for full-time bachelor students (surname P t/m Z) by Vera Hermanns is cancelled at 2 May.

Leiden’s International House officially open

Of the six internationally orientated organisations housed in the newly opened International House, ISN (International Student Network) has the most international Board members. The Leiden University International House was opened on 12 October by Simone Buitendijk, Vice-Rector Magnificus, and Jeroen t’Hart, Director of Student and Education Affairs.


Hello LU-Card!

From now on you will need a LU-Card (Leiden University Card) to borrow books from the university’s libraries and to get access to the University Library.


All internationally oriented student organisations under one roof

Leiden University will open the International House located next door to Plexus Student Centre on 12 October. All the internationally oriented student organisations will be housed here. The International House will increase the University's visibility in terms of its international orientation.


International students on their bikes in Leiden

During the Introduction Days on 1 and 2 September international students could buy a second-hand bike and begin their studies in the Netherlands in style. They made grateful use of this opportunity during the Sports Festival at the Sports Centre. What is their first impression of Leiden?


Scholarships for excellent international students

‘Overwhelmed’, ‘very happy’, ‘a unique chance’ - enthusiastic responses from the international students who have been awarded a scholarship  by Leiden University. With these scholarships 45 excellent students from 26 different countries can now take a master's programme in Leiden.


Dick Swaab on aging: 'The clock in our brain'

Monday 6 February Dick Swaab, author of the bestseller ‘We are our brains’ is the honorary guest at the Leiden Institute for Brain and Cognition (LIBC). He will show a number of strategies designed to stimulate the circadian timing system in order to enhance the functionality of the clock in our brain.

Collaboration as theme of opening of academic year Leiden University

There will be no new funding for universities in the Netherlands in the coming years. What is then the best strategy for Dutch knowledge institutions and for Leiden University in particular? 'Co-operation seems to be the best option if we want to remain among the world's top players,' were the words of President of the Executive Board, Paul van der Heijden on 5 September during the opening of the academic year at Leiden University.
